MANILA, Philippines — Actress Claudine Barretto has expressed support for her niece Julia Barretto after confirmation of Julia’s breakup with fellow actor Gerald Anderson.
Talent agencies Star Magic and Viva Artists Agency both issued statements confirming the split. Claudine reposted Viva’s statement on her Instagram story, writing, “ALL IS WELL. I’m right here. We all are. Your strength amazes me, Julia,” and tagged Julia’s account.
Claudine also shared the statement on her Facebook page, adding, “Mama is here Juls,” accompanied by a broken heart emoji.
Prior to the official breakup announcement, Claudine was asked about rumors involving a third party allegedly connected to the split.
She responded, “Ako I have no idea. Puro naririnig ko rin lang, ang daming mga fake news, may kung sinu-sinong babae,” referring to talent manager Ogie Diaz’s earlier debunking of Gerald’s rumored links to singers Gigi de Lana and Arci Muñoz.
When questioned about rumors linking Gerald to Cignal HD Spikers player Vanie Gandler, Claudine stated, “Hindi ‘yan ang ikinuwento sa akin ng mga babies ko sa volleyball,” denying the claim. Claudine added that she has not yet encountered Gerald at volleyball games.
