The City of San Antonio will hold a food distribution event at the Freeman Coliseum on Wednesday, November 5, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., offering food and dry goods to 500 registered families.

The distribution will take place at the coliseum’s parking lot behind the rodeo barns. The event forms part of the city’s ongoing initiative to support households experiencing financial strain and food insecurity.

Bexar County Judge Peter Sakai will oversee the event, reaffirming the county’s commitment to assisting residents affected by federal aid disruptions. The initiative aligns with the city’s broader efforts to ease the impact of the temporary pause in SNAP benefits.

The San Antonio Food Bank, one of the key organizers, will provide resources and logistical support. Serving more than 105,000 individuals weekly, the Food Bank continues to play a crucial role in addressing hunger across Southwest Texas.

The event comes at a critical time as families struggle with rising costs and reduced access to federal assistance. To further support affected residents, the city is also distributing $150 H-E-B gift cards to those impacted.

City officials expressed hope that this effort will help ease the pressure on families during a challenging time, underscoring the value of community solidarity in overcoming hardship.
