AUSTIN, Texas— The City of Austin has enacted new parking regulations, effective March 1, to address ongoing parking challenges and improve traffic flow and safety.

The updated rules include increased fines for parking violations and the introduction of additional infractions.

The new fines apply to offenses such as parking in no-parking zones, blocking driveways, and occupying spaces reserved for people with disabilities without proper permits.

Additional violations target areas with temporary restrictions, such as zones designated for construction or special events.

City officials explained that these changes aim to keep roadways clear for emergency vehicles and reduce congestion, particularly in high-density areas.

A public awareness campaign has been launched to inform residents and visitors about the updated rules, with information available on the city’s website.
