MANILA, Philippines — Meralco swingman Chris Newsome played through a dislocated left pinky finger during Game 2 of the PBA Philippine Cup semifinals, the team announced Wednesday.

Newsome injured the finger in the first half of Meralco’s 109-92 loss to TNT Tropang 5G, limiting his participation early in the game. “I dislocated my left pinky. It was a clean dislocation. Our team physician popped it back in place and taped it up so I still went out there to play,” Newsome said.

He returned in the second half and finished with 18 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Despite his efforts, Meralco fell to a 0-2 deficit in the best-of-five series.

Newsome said he does not expect the injury to sideline him and plans to play in Game 3 on Friday. “I’m still motivated and ready to go for Friday,” he added, noting that previous finger injuries required only recovery time and no surgery.
