Houston Fire Department officials rescued a Chihuahua under a bridge in Houston’s Botanic Garden.
According to firefighter Michael Robinson, who took charge of the rescue operation, the Chihuahua, though frightened, appeared unharmed. It took several minutes, for Robinson to reach the dog and transport it back to the surface.
Once above ground, the Chihuahua was checked over by the team and the dog appeared healthy and showed no signs of physical injury.
The dog’s owner was not immediately identified at the time of the rescue.
Local animal control was contacted to ensure the dog received the necessary care and to help locate its owner. The organization confirmed the Chihuahua’s microchip was scanned, and efforts to reach the owner were underway.
The Chihuahua remains in the care of local animal services. Updates about the dog’s status and any information regarding its owner will be communicated by the organization as it becomes available.
