SAN ANTONIO, Texas– A charter bus carrying nearly 60 individuals collided with a semi-truck in North Texas on a route from Childress to Houston on Wednesday.

The accident occurred when traffic came to an abrupt stop near U.S. Highway 287. The bus was part of a church group on its way to a concert series.

The crash took place at approximately 11:30 a.m. on the southbound lanes close to I-35W.

Authorities confirmed that a Singing Youth of Denver choir was onboard, along with several adult chaperones.

Initial reports indicate that the bus hit the semi-truck after a sudden halt in traffic. The collision’s exact cause is still under investigation.

The semi-truck involved in the collision was part of a larger convoy transporting goods through Texas. The trucking company has not yet issued a statement regarding the incident.

Authorities urge anyone with information about the accident to come forward as they work towards a comprehensive understanding of the events.
