Severe thunderstorms triggered widespread power outages Saturday morning across Houston, leaving more than 96,000 CenterPoint Energy customers without electricity as tornado warnings were issued in multiple counties.

As of 7:50 a.m., CenterPoint Energy recorded 96,405 affected customers on its outage tracker. Tornado warnings covered Harris, Montgomery and Waller counties as the storms moved through the region. Entergy also reported outages in its service areas.

CenterPoint Energy deployed 1,300 frontline workers and contractors across 12 service centers in advance of the storm to expedite restoration. Crews began responding to reported outages as weather conditions allowed. The company said it would continue posting updates as restoration progressed.

Entergy also mobilized teams to address outages in its service territory. Both utilities cited the severe weather as the cause of widespread service interruption.

Officials urged residents to monitor weather alerts and follow safety guidance as the storms persisted. Power companies continued restoration efforts throughout the day while emergency officials monitored conditions under the tornado warnings.
