SCOTLAND — Britain’s Prime Minister Keir Starmer met with U.S. President Donald Trump on July 28, 2025, at Trump Turnberry in Scotland to discuss pressing international issues including the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the potential recognition of a Palestinian state by the United Kingdom, and ongoing efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.

The leaders focused on the urgent humanitarian situation in Gaza, where severe food shortages and a lack of medical supplies have heightened the need for international assistance. Both Starmer and Trump discussed strategies to deliver aid and improve conditions for civilians affected by the crisis.

The meeting also addressed the possibility of the UK recognizing a Palestinian state. Over 220 members of the British Parliament recently signed a letter urging Prime Minister Starmer to declare recognition.

While sources indicate that Starmer is sympathetic to the cause, he emphasized that recognition would need to be part of a broader peace process aimed at achieving a negotiated two-state solution respecting the rights of both Israelis and Palestinians.

The discussions included the ongoing war in Ukraine following Russia’s invasion. Both leaders underscored the importance of international cooperation in supporting Ukraine through humanitarian aid, military assistance, and economic sanctions on Russia.

Prime Minister Starmer reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to these efforts and highlighted recent agreements to strengthen military and economic support for Ukraine. Diplomatic efforts are ongoing to encourage Russia to engage in negotiations for a peaceful resolution.

The meeting at Trump Turnberry highlighted the collaboration between the United States and the United Kingdom in addressing these complex global challenges. Both leaders expressed commitment to continued cooperation on diplomatic and humanitarian initiatives affecting Gaza, Palestine, and Ukraine.
