Netflix announced that it will produce a new action film titled “Tygo,” which will star Blackpink member Lisa, Ma Dong-seok and Lee Jin-wook as part of a spin-off from its “Extraction” franchise, expanding the universe that the streaming platform launched globally in 2020.

Netflix executives confirmed that the company ordered “Tygo” as a standalone project within the “Extraction” universe and positioned the film as an action-centered story that connects to the themes and world-building of the original franchise.

Production representatives stated that Lisa will make her feature-film debut in “Tygo” and will appear in a principal role alongside Korean actors Ma Dong-seok, also known internationally as Don Lee, and Lee Jin-wook.

Casting announcements identified Ma Dong-seok as one of the film’s leads and cited his previous work in action titles such as “Train to Busan” and “The Roundup” series as part of the rationale for his selection for the “Extraction” spin-off.

The production team listed Lee Jin-wook in the main cast of “Tygo” and referenced his experience in Korean television dramas and genre projects as background for his participation in the new Netflix film.

Netflix officials described “Tygo” as a spin-off that will operate within the narrative framework of “Extraction” but will feature new characters and a separate storyline that can stand alone for viewers who did not watch the earlier films.

Company representatives stated that they plan to distribute “Tygo” exclusively on the Netflix streaming platform in multiple countries and that they will announce a release date at a later time.

The streaming service stated that “Tygo” will continue Netflix’s strategy of building franchises from successful original films and will target global audiences that watched “Extraction” and “Extraction 2.”
