10% online gambling tax eyed to fund rehab, ban e-wallet links

MANILA, Philippines– Lawmakers are considering a new House bill that proposes a 10% tax on online gambling operators in an effort to combat addiction.

The bill aims to use the funds generated from this tax to support addiction treatment and recovery programs.

The proposal also seeks to implement a ban on e-wallet links to further control online gambling activities. The measure reflects growing concerns among legislators about the impact of online gambling on public health and the necessity for funding rehabilitation initiatives.

If passed, this legislation would mark a significant step in regulating the online gambling industry and addressing addiction issues.
