The Bureau of Customs (BOC) in the Philippines assured that winning bidders of seven luxury cars once owned through contractors Pacifico “Curlee” Discaya and his wife, Cezarah “Sarah” Discaya, will not face harassment or public scrutiny after an upcoming auction.
Customs Deputy Chief of Staff Chris Bendijo issued the statement to address concerns surrounding the auction and the controversy involving the Discayas.
The vehicles were seized as part of an ongoing investigation into the couple’s business dealings.
Bendijo emphasized that the BOC has implemented safeguards to ensure transparency and protect the privacy and rights of successful bidders. He added that the auction will strictly follow legal procedures and regulatory guidelines.
The seven vehicles, consisting of high-end brands, form part of several assets confiscated in connection with customs-related violations.
The BOC said the auction serves as part of the government’s efforts to properly manage and dispose of seized properties while observing.
