According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, an elections clerk was assaulted by a man as he exited a voting booth. The incident took place at a local polling center during the early voting period.

The report indicates that the man had been asked to take off a hat displaying support for former President Donald Trump. Following this request, he became aggressive. Witnesses said that as the suspect exited, he struck the elections clerk. The altercation drew attention from other voters and poll workers.

Law enforcement was notified immediately. Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene shortly thereafter. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident. The elections clerk sustained minor injuries and did not require hospitalization.

Officials emphasized the importance of maintaining order and safety during the voting process. They reiterated that such behavior will not be tolerated at polling locations.

The incident is part of a series of conflicts that have arisen at polling centers across the country during the lead-up to the election. Election officials have been on alert for potential disputes, especially in areas with heightened political tension. In this instance, the situation was resolved quickly, with no additional disruptions noted.

The suspect now faces charges related to assault. The investigation is ongoing. Authorities encourage anyone who witnesses similar incidents to report them to law enforcement to ensure a safe voting environment for all.

The Bexar County Elections Department is reviewing security measures at polling places. They aim to prevent such incidents in the future. Election officials are committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for voters.
