SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Bexar County officials are addressing a backlog of more than 52,000 voter registration applications that accumulated since July due to the county’s transition from the VoteTech system to a new platform called TEAMS.

The processing halt during the system change created delays in handling applications, but county officials have hired temporary staff to assist in clearing the backlog ahead of the October 6 voter registration deadline. Election Day is set for November 4.

Officials expressed confidence that all eligible applications submitted on time will be processed before the election. The move to the TEAMS system is part of a broader effort to modernize voter registration and improve efficiency in handling the increasing volume of applications.

Bexar County Election Department representatives are closely monitoring the situation to ensure all eligible voters can participate in the election. The county emphasized the importance of maintaining a smooth registration process to uphold voter confidence and election integrity.

The transition is expected to enhance the efficiency of voter registration in the long term, allowing the county to better manage future increases in application volume.

Bexar County officials remain committed to timely processing of voter registrations and ensuring all eligible citizens have the opportunity to vote in the upcoming election.
