CEDAR PARK, Texas — The Cedar Park Police Department confirmed on Thursday that a bat found near the 500 block of Brushy Creek Road tested positive for rabies.
Authorities are advising residents to exercise caution and report any encounters with bats or other wildlife to local officials. The police department is coordinating with health officials to ensure public safety and prevent potential exposure to the rabies virus.
Officials also urge pet owners to keep their animals vaccinated against rabies. Rabies is a viral disease that affects the central nervous system and can be fatal if left untreated.
