Bartlett Independent School District officials on Wednesday announced that they will close all district campuses in Bartlett, Texas, for the remainder of the week after an increase in flu and other illness cases affected students and staff, and they will use the closure period to sanitize facilities and limit further spread of infection.

District administrators said the closure applies to all Bartlett ISD schools and programs and will take effect immediately for the rest of the current school week.

Officials confirmed that classes will not meet in person during the closure and that they will resume normal operations on the next scheduled school day unless the district issues further guidance.

The district reported that it notified parents, guardians, staff and the community about the closures through official communication channels, including messages and public announcements.

Bartlett ISD leaders stated that maintenance and custodial teams will conduct deep cleaning and disinfection of classrooms, common areas, buses and other facilities while campuses remain closed.

District representatives said they based the decision to close on a rise in reported flu and illness cases that created concerns about student and staff health and attendance.

School officials advised families to monitor students for flu symptoms, seek medical care when necessary and keep sick children at home in accordance with public health recommendations.

The district indicated that it will continue to coordinate with local health authorities and will provide updates to the school community if conditions change or if additional measures become necessary.

Bartlett ISD stated that extracurricular activities and on-campus events scheduled during the closure period will not take place unless the district issues a separate announcement.

District officials said they will review attendance data, illness reports and health guidance before confirming the full return to regular campus operations.
