Austin Independent School District (AISD) announced a revised consolidation plan that may lead to the closure of 10 schools.
The district presented the updated proposal during a board meeting on Nov. 6, in Austin, Texas.
About 60 parents attended the meeting to share their views on proposed boundary adjustments and school consolidations. AISD stated that the revisions respond to community feedback gathered in recent consultations.
The consolidation plan aims to address uneven student enrollment and improve resource allocation across the district.
The district has not yet identified which schools may close under the revised plan. Further assessments and community discussions will determine the final list.
AISD committed to maintaining transparency throughout the process and assured that students’ educational needs and community effects remain central considerations. Additional board meetings and public forums are scheduled to collect more input from residents.
The district’s website will provide updates and detailed information about the proposal. AISD encouraged parents and community members to continue participating in upcoming discussions as it works toward a final decision on the consolidation plan.
