A suspect in a drunk-driving incident in Northwest Travis County remains at large after a crash that resulted in the death of an Austin resident. The family of the victim, Stanley Chun, is calling for justice and raising awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving.

Stanley Chun, 34, a husband and father, was killed on June 14 in a head-on collision while traveling home from dinner with his family near Lake Travis. His wife Maria, their young son Harper, and his parents were with him. While Maria, Harper, and Stanley’s father suffered minor injuries, his mother sustained broken limbs. Stanley died instantly.

The family, owning a local hotel, is now dealing with the loss while managing their business. Loved ones remember Stanley as a dedicated CEO, avid golfer, and family man with a sense of humor.

The suspect, Jonathan Medellin Hopper from Houston, is wanted for intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault. Following the crash, he showed signs of intoxication and was initially taken into custody for a blood test. Due to medical needs, he was released for treatment, and warrants were later issued. Law enforcement continues efforts to locate him.

Chun’s family urges Hopper to take responsibility and turn himself in, acknowledging the tragedy was not intentional but emphasizing the need for accountability. They express gratitude to the first responders and remain committed to seeking justice for Stanley.
