Austin Energy launched phase two of its recovery efforts on Wednesday after a powerful storm struck Austin, Texas, on Tuesday, knocking out power for tens of thousands of residents and damaging infrastructure across the city.

Austin Energy activated the second phase of its restoration plan, which involves deploying additional personnel and equipment to the hardest-hit areas.

The utility company plans to prioritize locations with the highest concentration of outages to restore power more efficiently.

City officials urged residents to remain patient as repair crews continue working across neighborhoods. The city opened emergency shelters to provide food, water, and temporary housing for residents affected by the outages.

Austin Energy asked the public to report any downed power lines and to stay clear of damaged infrastructure for safety. A spokesperson for the utility emphasized that safety remains a central focus during ongoing operations.

Austin Energy is coordinating with other utility companies to share resources and speed up recovery. The company continues to provide updates through local news channels and official communication platforms.

The storm stands as one of the most severe weather events in Austin in recent years. Austin Energy officials said they remain committed to restoring service to all customers as safely and quickly as possible.
