AUSTIN, Texas — The ATX Open will remain at Westwood Country Club through 2029 under a new three-year partnership announced by tournament organizers, extending the Austin venue’s run as host of the annual WTA Tour event.
The ATX Open has held the tournament at Westwood since joining the WTA Tour in 2023. The new agreement marks the first multiyear venue deal for the tournament since its launch.
The 2027 tournament will begin in February, with 18-year-old American Iva Jovic, currently ranked No. 14 in the world, as the first player committed to the field.
“I’m incredibly excited to return to Austin for the 2027 ATX Open,” Jovic said. “I’ve had such memorable experiences competing here over the past two years, and the support from the Austin fans has made this a tournament I look forward to.”
The ATX Open remains the only WTA Tour-level women’s professional tennis tournament held annually in Texas.
The 2026 tournament featured Taylor Townsend and Texas Longhorns alum Peyton Stearns in the singles final, with Stearns winning the title. Townsend and Australian player Storm Hunter won the doubles championship in straight sets. Venus Williams also competed in the 2026 tournament.
Tournament director Christo Van Rensburg said the multiyear agreement will allow organizers to expand the event’s player field and fan experiences.
Westwood Country Club sits along Lake Austin near downtown. The club opened in 1955 and features tennis facilities that include courts used for the ATX Open, as well as hospitality, dining and retail areas during the tournament.
“The ATX Open brings something truly special to Austin, and we’re thrilled to welcome the tournament back to Westwood,” said Van Barry, Westwood Country Club’s general manager and chief operating officer.
The WTA awarded the tournament to Austin in March 2022, returning a tour-level women’s tennis event to Texas after the San Antonio Open ended in 2016. The ATX Open also follows the Avon Futures of Austin, which last took place in 1979.
