DALLAS — Attorneys representing an Oak Cliff apartment complex that exploded on May 28 have alleged that an Addison-based drilling company caused a gas leak that led to the blast, which killed three people and injured several others.

In a press release, attorney Geoff Henley of Henley & Henley said evidence indicated that Barba Drilling Company was working at The Clyde apartment complex when the gas leak occurred. Henley said a truck belonging to the company was located near the site where the explosion originated.

Henley said investigators and utility officials have not provided full information about the incident.

He also said the apartment ownership group has had limited access to the property and has been working to reconstruct the sequence of events based on available evidence.

Barba Drilling Company has not publicly responded to the allegations. The company did not immediately reply to requests for comment.

Atmos Energy Corporation said a contractor not affiliated with the utility was working at the site at the time of the explosion. The company has been named in a lawsuit that alleges negligence contributed to the blast and resulting fire.

The explosion occurred on May 28 at The Clyde apartments in Oak Cliff, Dallas, and caused a fire that destroyed parts of the complex.
