The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced a recall of at least 4,000 Coca-Cola beverages distributed in Texas due to potential metal contamination. The Class II recall covers Coca-Cola Original Taste, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, and Sprite.

Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages in Dallas initiated the recall on October 3 after reporting the possible presence of metal in the products.

Affected items include:

  • Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, 12 oz cans

    • 12-pack — Lot 49000042559 — Exp: FEB0226MAA

    • 35-pack — Lot 49000058499 — Exp: FEB0226MAA

  • Coca-Cola, 12 oz cans

    • 24-pack — Lot 49000012781 — Exp: JUN2926MAA

    • 35-pack — Lot 49000058468 — Exp: JUN2926MAA

  • Sprite, 12 oz cans

    • 35-pack — Lot 49000058482 — Exp: JUN2926MAA

    • 12-pack — Lot 49000028928 — Exp: JUN2926MAA or JUN3026MAB

The FDA has not issued disposal instructions, but food safety experts advise against consuming the recalled products due to the risk of internal injury from metal fragments.

The Class II classification indicates a potential but remote health risk. No injuries or illnesses have been reported.

Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages has not explained how metal entered the products. Consumers may contact the company or check the FDA recall database for updates. Some retailers may offer refunds or exchanges.

The FDA will continue to monitor the recall.
