Aston Villa defeated Manchester United 2-1 on Sunday at Villa Park in Birmingham, England, as Morgan Rogers scored twice to extend the club’s winning streak to 10 matches in all competitions and keep the team within three points of the Premier League leaders.

Rogers gave Aston Villa the lead in the first half after winning possession in midfield, carrying the ball past several Manchester United defenders, and finishing from inside the penalty area.

Manchester United leveled the match in the second half through a close-range goal following sustained pressure inside Aston Villa’s box.

Rogers restored Aston Villa’s advantage later in the second half when he advanced on another solo run and fired a low shot past the goalkeeper.

Aston Villa limited Manchester United’s chances in the closing minutes and protected the lead until the final whistle.

The win kept Aston Villa in third place in the Premier League standings and within three points of the top of the table.

The loss left Manchester United outside the league’s leading positions.
