Anthony Davis, a 10-time NBA All-Star forward, was traded by the Dallas Mavericks to the Washington Wizards on Wednesday in a deal involving eight players and five NBA Draft picks, ESPN reported.

ESPN, citing unnamed sources, reported that Dallas sent Davis, Jaden Hardy, D’Angelo Russell and Dante Exum to Washington. In exchange, the Wizards sent Khris Middleton, AJ Johnson, Malaki Branham and Marvin Bagley III to the Mavericks along with two first-round draft picks and three second-round selections.

The trade gives Dallas a first-round pick from Oklahoma City in this year’s NBA Draft and a 2030 first-round pick from Washington, plus second-round choices in 2026, 2027 and 2029 that were obtained in prior deals with other teams.

Davis, the top overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, joined the Mavericks last February in a trade with the Los Angeles Lakers that sent Luka Doncic to Los Angeles.

Several deals took place ahead of Thursday’s NBA trade deadline. The Cleveland Cavaliers finalized a trade for guard James Harden on Wednesday, acquiring the 11-time NBA All-Star from the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for guard Darius Garland.

Harden has averaged 25.4 points, 8.1 assists and 4.8 rebounds with the Clippers this season.

Davis, 32, has averaged 20.4 points, 11.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 20 games for Dallas this season. He holds career averages of 24.0 points, 10.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists.

Washington, which holds a 13-36 record and ranks second-worst in the Eastern Conference, adds Davis to a roster that includes four-time NBA All-Star guard Trae Young, who the team acquired last month in a trade with Atlanta.

Dallas, 19-31, receives additional draft assets as it reshapes its roster around rookie Cooper Flagg.

In another reported move, ESPN said Chris Paul was traded to Toronto in a three-team deal involving the Clippers, Brooklyn Nets and Raptors. Brooklyn received Ochai Agbaji, a 2032 Raptors second-round pick and cash.

ESPN also reported that Philadelphia 76ers guard Jared McCain was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder for a 2026 first-round draft pick and three second-round selections.

In a separate deal, the Chicago Bulls traded Coby White and Mike Conley Jr. to the Charlotte Hornets for Collin Sexton, Ousmane Dieng and three second-round picks, according to the report.
