MANILA, Philippines– Andres Muhlach says he feels both pressure and pride as he prepares to take on the role once played his father, Aga Muhlach, in the classic youth film “Bagets.”
The original movie premiered in 1984 and became a cultural landmark for many Filipino viewers.
He says he wants to deliver the best performance he can for the project and hopes to honor the original film while adding his own interpretation to the character.
According to him, he understands the film’s legacy in local cinema and youth-oriented storytelling. He considers the opportunity a major step in his acting career and uses the pressure he feels as motivation during preparation and training.
He also studies the original film to understand its tone and dynamics, working closely with directors and production staff to shape an updated portrayal.
He remains focused on improving his craft through workshops and rehearsals. He hopes to connect with fans of the original film as well as younger viewers, noting that the upcoming version will reflect present-day youth experiences.
