Actor Andre Yllana said Wednesday that he supports the ongoing courtship between his mother, actress and local politician Aiko Melendez, and former matinee idol Onemig Bondoc, saying the two appear happy and deserve to enjoy their time together.
Andre spoke during a press conference in the Philippines for the upcoming series Hell University, where reporters asked him about Melendez and Bondoc’s relationship following Bondoc’s recent public confirmation that he is courting Melendez. That confirmation came earlier this month during a joint TikTok live session that drew attention from fans and entertainment followers.
Andre said he prefers not to discuss the current status of the relationship and emphasized his respect for his mother’s personal life and decisions. He added that Melendez and Bondoc are free to decide for themselves if they wish to formalize their relationship.
He said he has already given his blessing should the two choose to become a couple and noted that he sees them in good spirits when they are together.
Melendez has not publicly stated whether she has accepted Bondoc as her boyfriend. Andre did not provide a timeline for any possible confirmation and avoided sharing details about private family conversations.
The Hell University press conference also covered Andre’s role in the series, though questions about his mother’s personal life surfaced following the viral TikTok appearance. Andre kept his remarks brief and reiterated his support for Melendez and Bondoc.
