Alex Eala secures gritty opening victory at Suzhou Open

SUZHOU, China — Filipino tennis player Alex Eala defeated Poland’s Katarzyna Kawa in the round of 32 at the WTA 125 Suzhou Open on Tuesday.

Eala won the match 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 in a contest that experienced delays due to rain. Play was suspended in the first set at 2-2 before resuming later.

After the rain delay, Eala regained momentum and took the first set 6-3. Kawa responded by winning the second set 6-3, leveling the match. Eala secured the victory by winning the deciding set 7-5.

The win advances Eala to the next round of the tournament. The WTA 125 Suzhou Open features competitive players from around the world. Eala’s performance demonstrated her resilience and skill under pressure on the international stage.
