MANILA — Filipino tennis star Alex Eala is set to compete in the doubles draw at the Indian Wells tournament, reuniting with former partner Iva Jovic. The duo will face Hailey Baptiste and Jelena Ostapenko in the round of 32 on Friday.

Eala and Jovic previously teamed up at the ASB Classic, where they reached the semifinals before falling 7-5, 6-3 to China’s Xu Yifan and Yang Zhaoxuan.

In singles, the 20-year-old Eala is playing her third consecutive WTA1000 tournament. She will take on the winner between China’s Zhang Shuai and Ukraine’s Dayana Yastremska in the round of 64 on Saturday. A potential matchup with fourth-seeded Coco Gauff looms in the near future, following Eala’s 6-0, 6-2 loss to the American in the Dubai Tennis Championships.

The Rafa Nadal Academy graduate continues to gain valuable experience on the WTA circuit as she seeks to climb the rankings and make her mark in high-level tournaments.
