MANILA, Philippines– Filipino tennis player Alex Eala, 19, made an impact at the Miami Open, showcasing her talent on the international tennis stage.
Eala, currently ranked No. 75 in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), had a remarkable performance during the tournament, marking a pivotal moment in her career.
Eala faced and triumphed over some of tennis’s elite players, including former Grand Slam champions Jelena Ostapenko, Madison Keys, and Iga Świątek.
Eala shared her reflections on the Miami Open via Instagram, expressing pride and gratitude for her experience.
“This year’s @miamiopen has left me speechless and so full of emotion, mostly pride and gratitude,” Eala wrote.
She highlighted her determination during challenging moments and her ability to represent the Philippines on a significant tennis platform.
Eala expressed appreciation for the support and positivity she received during her campaign.
“I’m thankful for all the positivity coming my way, and I pray that you all continue sending support through the highs and lows,” she added.
Eala also acknowledged that her Miami Open journey has presented new opportunities along with challenges.
“I recognize that these two weeks have opened the door to so many opportunities for me, but along with those opportunities come a whole new set of obstacles I will have to navigate through,” she stated.
