A women’s doubles team exited Wimbledon in the opening round on Thursday, as Alex Eala of the Philippines and Eva Lys of Germany lost to Brazil’s Ingrid Martins and the United States’ Quinn Gleason.

The match, held at the All England Club in London, ended with Martins and Gleason defeating Eala and Lys in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. The loss marked the end of Eala and Lys’s campaign at this year’s tournament.

Eala, who also competed in the women’s singles, concluded her Wimbledon run after an earlier first-round exit in that event.

Martins and Gleason advanced to the second round with the win, continuing their pursuit in the Grand Slam tournament. The match was played on grass, as part of the ongoing main draw competition.

Eala and Lys entered the women’s doubles draw with hopes of progressing, but were unable to overcome their opponents in the opening round. Both players will now shift focus to upcoming tournaments in the professional tennis calendar.

Wimbledon continues through next week, featuring top international competitors across all divisions.
