Filipino tennis player Alex Eala exited the Suzhou Open WTA 125 after a quarterfinal loss to Switzerland’s Viktorija Golubic on Friday.
Golubic rallied from a set down to defeat Eala, 2-6, 6-2, 7-6 (0), and advanced to the semifinals. Eala, seeded fourth in the tournament, held a match point in the third set but failed to convert. Golubic then dominated the tiebreak, winning 7-0 to secure the victory.
The result marked another early exit for Eala during her Asian tournament swing. She entered the Suzhou Open with high expectations after strong performances in the earlier rounds, but the loss halted her progress.
Eala’s participation in the WTA 125 series event forms part of her competitive schedule in Asia, where she continues to gain experience against seasoned international players.
Golubic moves on to the semifinals, while Eala looks ahead to upcoming tournaments as she pursues higher rankings and future success on the professional circuit.
