MANILA, Philippines — Filipino tennis star Alex Eala fell to No. 69 in the latest Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) world rankings following her recent international tournament appearances and a brief hiatus from competition.
The 20-year-old athlete recently took a three-week break from her tennis schedule, which included a homecoming visit to Manila. The pause came after her debut in the Wimbledon singles main draw, where she faced former French Open champion Barbora Krejcikova in the first round but failed to advance.
Prior to Wimbledon, Eala competed in the Eastbourne Open, reaching the finals before falling to Maya Joint.
Eala previously reached a career-high ranking of World No. 56. She is now set to return to the court in upcoming tournaments in Canada as she resumes her international campaign.
