Filipino tennis star Alex Eala made a stylish appearance at the Laureus World Sports Awards in Madrid on Tuesday, turning heads on the red carpet in an elegant cream Filipiniana ensemble. The event is widely regarded as the “Oscars of sports.”
Eala highlighted her heritage with the traditional-inspired outfit while attending one of the sport’s most prestigious award ceremonies.
Among the night’s honorees were tennis stars Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka, who were named Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year.
In an Instagram story, Eala also shared a photo with tennis legend Novak Djokovic and Olympic skier Eileen Gu, who co-hosted the event. She captioned the post, “Sandwiched between greatness.”
Eala, who recently climbed to No. 44 in the WTA rankings, is currently in Spain to continue her clay-court season at the Madrid Open. The 20-year-old is looking to improve her performance in WTA 1000 events after a series of early-round exits.
