The Philippines’ men’s volleyball team, Alas Pilipinas, will compete for a bronze medal at the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games following a strong showing in the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship, head coach Angiolino Frigoni said Monday in Manila.

Frigoni acknowledged heightened public expectations after the team’s international exposure but clarified that success on the world stage does not guarantee a SEA Games title. Earlier results in the regional tournament mean Alas Pilipinas can now contend only for third place.

“The players understand the situation and remain motivated to deliver a strong showing for the country,” Frigoni said, emphasizing the squad’s focus on execution, cohesion, and mental toughness in remaining matches.

The coaching staff continues to review match footage, analyze statistics, and adjust tactics while preparing for the bronze-medal game, scheduled for a later date. Training sessions are concentrating on service reception, blocking schemes, and offensive variations suited to potential opponents.

Frigoni noted that competing against higher-ranked teams in the FIVB event provided valuable experience and confidence that could benefit the squad in regional play. The team views the SEA Games as an opportunity to secure a podium finish while gaining lessons for future international tournaments.
