MANILA, Philippines– The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) reassigned Col. Raymund Dante Lachica, former head of the AFP Security and Protection Group, effective Saturday Oct. 4.
Lachica’s reassignment follows an ongoing case related to the alleged misuse of confidential funds by the Office of the Vice President (OVP).
The AFP confirmed that Lachica is now part of the Philippine Army. Lt. Col. Joseph Israel Eleosida replaced Lachica as the new head of the AFP Security and Protection Group.
The reassignment came after a congressional inquiry highlighted issues regarding substantial confidential fund releases. Vice President Sara Duterte is associated with these fund releases.
