MANILA, Philippines– The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) announced on Saturday that Vice President Sara Duterte has lost her exclusive security force following the deactivation of the Vice Presidential Security and Protection Group (VPSPG).

The VPSPG, operational since June 2022, was reorganized into the AFP Security and Protection Group (AFPSPG).

This new unit will provide security to various VIPs, rather than exclusively serving the Vice President.

The reorganization follows Duterte’s impeachment by the House of Representatives.

The AFP stated the change aims to ensure the continued protection of the Vice President alongside other key officials.
