A 52-year-old woman, Theresa McCormick, was arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident in San Antonio, Texas. Authorities charged McCormick after she allegedly struck and killed Cynthia Anthony, 75, outside a gas station near the Medical Center on Sunday.

The San Antonio Police Department reported the incident occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Babcock Road. Surveillance footage purportedly captured McCormick’s vehicle, a 2010 Nissan Murano, hitting Anthony and then fleeing the scene without stopping. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office identified Anthony as the victim later that day.

Investigators cited blunt force injuries as the cause of Anthony’s death. According to reports, Anthony was walking in the parking lot when the vehicle struck her. The incident drew attention from nearby residents, several of whom alerted emergency services immediately after the collision.

Upon their arrival, law enforcement officers found Anthony unresponsive. Emergency medical personnel pronounced her dead at the scene. Authorities launched an investigation which led to the identification and subsequent arrest of McCormick.

The suspect, McCormick, faces charges related to the hit-and-run, including failure to stop and render aid resulting in death. Police located and arrested her after reviewing video evidence and speaking with eyewitnesses who provided crucial information about the vehicle’s description and direction of travel post-collision.

The San Antonio Police Department has urged anyone with additional information to come forward to aid the ongoing investigation. They continue to seek further details that could provide insight into McCormick’s actions leading up to and following the crash.

Community members in the area expressed shock over the incident, calling it a tragic reminder of the dangers pedestrians face daily. The neighborhood has seen increased patrols and police presence in response to the incident, aiming to reassure residents of their safety.

Cynthia Anthony’s family and friends mourn her loss, remembering her contribution to the community. Public memorials and tributes for Anthony are being planned, reflecting the community’s collective grief and honoring her life.
