ABS-CBN’s Film Restoration Project wraps up after 14 years

MANILA, Philippines– ABS-CBN Film Restoration Project, which has preserved and restored Philippine cinema classics for 14 years, concluded its operations on March 31, 2025.

Project head Leo Katigbak announced the closure on May 1, 2025, via Facebook, attributing the 2020 network shutdown as a factor.

The initiative, known as Sagip Pelikula, successfully restored over 240 films, making classic Filipino cinema accessible to new audiences.

Throughout April, the project focused on staff transitions and reviewing final projects before officially ending.

The team expressed gratitude to individuals and departments that supported the project over its lifespan.

ABS-CBN Film Restoration Project ends after 14 years of service.
