White Settlement, Texas — A suspected illegal vape pen transaction arranged through social media resulted in a shooting on Tuesday, leaving two individuals injured and one person under arrest, according to law enforcement officials.
Police say the incident occurred during an arranged meeting between Malorie Esparza and Alejandro Carrasco Jr., 20, who allegedly met to exchange vape pens for cash following contact on Instagram.
Authorities reported that the situation escalated into a robbery attempt, during which Esparza was shot multiple times.
Carrasco also sustained injuries in the encounter. Both parties received medical treatment. As of this report, Esparza’s condition has not been publicly disclosed.
Carrasco has been arrested and is facing a felony charge related to the incident. The White Settlement Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting and is working to determine if other individuals were involved.
Officials have emphasized the dangers of illegal transactions arranged via social media, noting that such platforms are increasingly used to facilitate the sale of illicit products, including vape pens.
