The victims were waiting for United Nations and commercial trucks carrying food supplies to enter the area. Palestinian witnesses told The Associated Press that the airstrike and shooting targeted individuals near a truck that had become stuck in Khan Younis.
The Gaza Health Ministry stated that over 200 people were injured during the incident.
The Israeli military acknowledged that soldiers observed a crowd near the aid truck but did not provide confirmation regarding the nature of the attack.
