MANILA, Philippines– The Department of Education (DepEd) in the Philippines announced they have purchased over 38,000 laptops and 26,000 Smart TV packages in preparation for the upcoming school year 2025-2026.
The acquisition, disclosed by the DepEd last Friday, aims to equip teachers and non-teaching staff with essential technology, and enhance classroom learning with Smart TV packages.
This initiative forms part of the agency’s Early Procurement Activities (EPA), ensuring timely distribution of necessary resources to thousands of schools.
According to the DepEd, 79% of their annual budget for the computerization program has been allocated, facilitating this procurement.
Specifically, the purchase includes 33,539 laptops for teachers and 5,360 laptops for non-teaching personnel, alongside the 26,000 Smart TV packages.
The DepEd emphasized the importance of these acquisitions in supporting the digital transformation of educational practices within the country.
The procurement process is designed to meet the technological needs of educational institutions in advance, aligning with DepEd’s goals for the upcoming school year.
The distribution of the purchased items is set to commence before the start of the school year to ensure readiness and efficiency in deployment.
