HOUSTON, Texas– A Harris County jury has sentenced Oscar Rosales to death for the 2022 murder of Precinct 5 Corporal Charles Galloway during a traffic stop in southwest Houston.
Rosales, 55, was convicted of capital murder after prosecutors presented evidence linking him to the fatal shooting. Jurors reached the decision after deliberating during the sentencing phase, which followed a detailed trial at the Harris County Criminal Justice Center.
This marks the second death sentence handed down in Harris County in under two months.
Cpl. Galloway was shot and killed during a routine traffic stop. The incident prompted an intensive investigation, which led authorities to arrest and charge Rosales. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office prosecuted the case, emphasizing the targeted killing of a law enforcement officer.
Family members, law enforcement personnel, and community members filled the courtroom as the jury delivered the verdict. The District Attorney’s Office later issued a statement reaffirming its commitment to holding violent offenders accountable.
