BRUSSELS, Belgium —The European Union has announced plans to impose tariffs on US goods, including cars and planes, valued at 95 billion euros ($107 billion) if ongoing trade negotiations with the Trump administration fail.
The European Commission stated it will file a complaint with the World Trade Organization (WTO) in response to US tariffs on EU products.
In April, President Donald Trump announced a 20-percent “reciprocal” tariff on most EU goods, but the measure was frozen until July, along with higher duties on several other countries.
European officials have expressed a willingness to continue negotiations with the US to reach a fair agreement before the July deadline.
