The Democratic National Convention continued on Wednesday with high-profile speakers, including Vice Presidential nominee Tim Walz and former President Bill Clinton. The third day of the convention aimed to showcase Kamala Harris, the party’s new candidate, and her pitch to voters.

Other notable speakers expected to address the convention include Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

Linking Harris to Past Presidents

On Tuesday, the Democrats sought to place Harris in a lineage of past presidents. Former President Barack Obama was not the only one to make the case for the vice president. The grandsons of Jimmy Carter and John F. Kennedy also spoke, portraying Harris as the natural heir of past Democratic leaders.

Jason Carter, grandson of the 39th president, said, “Kamala Harris carries my grandfather’s legacy. She knows what is right and she fights for it.” Jack Schlossberg, Kennedy’s grandson, suggested Harris would carry forward his grandfather’s agenda. “She believes in America like my grandfather did,” Schlossberg said. “That we do things not because they’re easy, but because they’re hard.”

A Message for Disaffected Trump Voters

The Democrats are making a play for disaffected Trump voters, using a former White House staffer to make their case. Stephanie Grisham, who worked in various roles in the Trump White House, including communications director and press secretary, spoke out against her former boss. “He has no empathy, no morals, and no fidelity to the truth,” Grisham said. “I couldn’t be part of the insanity any longer.”

Kyle Sweetser, a Trump voter from Alabama, told the convention that the former president’s tariffs made life harder for construction workers like him.
