HOUSTON, Texas– A 12-year-old Houston Cougars fan who is battling a chronic autoimmune disease, received tickets to the Final Four basketball game.

Jace Abarca, despite his health challenges, maintains a strong love for the Houston Cougars.

His journey gained a new dimension through the support of the University of Houston team and coaches.

Jace has been a part of the team community, serving as a ball boy, and has formed a unique bond with the players.

Earlier this week, he received a surprise gift of tickets to Saturday night’s game, which brought immense joy to him and his family.

Jace expressed his happiness about the team’s achievements and the opportunity provided by Team Impact, a non-profit organization that connects children with serious health conditions to college teams nationwide.

The young fan explained that Team Impact facilitated his connection to the Houston Cougars due to his health conditions, which include lupus and nephrotic syndrome.  He has developed friendships with players like Emmanuel Sharp and coach Kelvin Sampson.

Jace’s father, James Abarca, spoke about the significance of the bond between Jace and the team. He reminisced about Jace’s role as an official ball boy two years ago and his welcome back as an alumnus this year.

The team presented Jace with a ball during halftime, and coach Sampson has shown personal affection, treating Jace like family.

Jace will attend the game accompanied by his parents and two younger brothers. His father shared the positive news that Jace is currently in remission, adding to the celebration of the game’s experience.
