Prominent lawyer and former Solicitor General of the Philippines Estelito Mendoza died at age 95 on Wednesday, March 26, the Philippine National Bank (PNB) confirmed his death.
Mendoza, known as the “lawyer of last resort,” served as Solicitor General from 1972 to 1986 under President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.
Throughout his legal career, Mendoza represented numerous high-profile politicians in the Philippines.
He provided legal counsel for controversial figures, including the Marcos family. Mendoza also defended other notable clients in significant corruption cases.
He had been associated with the Philippine National Bank as a director since January 1, 2009.
The bank expressed condolences following his death.
