AUSTIN, Texas– A former officer of the Austin Police Department pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge in a court session held on Tuesday morning.

The plea agreement ensures that the former officer will be permanently barred from holding any law enforcement position in the future.

The proceedings took place in Travis County, where the former officer acknowledged responsibility for actions that violated departmental regulations.

Under the terms of the plea agreement, the former officer is prohibited from seeking or holding any position within law enforcement agencies across the United States.

The incident leading to the misdemeanor charge involved allegations of unprofessional conduct, which prompted an internal investigation by the Austin Police Department.

Following the internal review, the case was referred to the district attorney’s office for evaluation.

After reviewing the evidence, the district attorney’s office determined that the misdemeanor charge was appropriate.

The former officer initially faced more serious allegations, but the charges were reduced as part of the plea agreement.

The Austin Police Department has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high standards of conduct among its officers. The department has reviewed its internal protocols to ensure that all officers are fully aware of their responsibilities and that such incidents do not recur.
