HOUSTON, Texas– Surveyors working in a West Texas oil field recently uncovered unexploded World War II ordnance in South Midland County.

The discovery occurred while installing new energy infrastructure lines. Local authorities secured the area, and bomb disposal experts were called to assess the situation.

The ordnance was identified as unexploded World War II bombs, but there are no historical records of military activity in that area during the war.

The discovery has prompted a pause in operations while safety measures are implemented. Oil companies in the region are cooperating with local authorities to ensure proper precautions.

Local historians are investigating possible connections between the region and military activities from the past.

Safety protocols are being enforced, and bomb disposal units are using advanced techniques to safely neutralize the ordnance. The process is expected to take several weeks, during which the area will remain restricted.

Authorities continue to investigate and ensure the area remains safe for the public.
