Vice President Sara Duterte recently made a public remark, saying, “God save the Philippines,” following the successful impeachment effort against her in the House of Representatives.
The impeachment proceedings, which had been in motion for some time, culminated on Wednesday with the House’s decision to endorse the impeachment complaint.
In her first appearance before the media on Friday, Duterte thanked her supporters, expressing gratitude to those who continue to pray, support, believe in, and love her.
She said, “Manalig kayo dahil sa taumbayan ang tagumpay,” reflecting her confidence despite the ongoing challenges in her political career.
Duterte acknowledged the difficulties she faces but assured the public that she is doing well.
She noted that her legal team has been preparing for the impeachment process since 2023, when the first steps were taken to initiate the proceedings against her.
Throughout her comments, Duterte appeared untroubled by the impeachment. She even made light of the situation, quipping when asked for a Valentine’s Day message, “Alam nyo mas masakit pa maiwanan ng boyfriend o girlfriend kesa ma-impeach ka ng House of Representatives,” showing a sense of humor in the face of the political pressure.
