GEORGETOWN, Texas –A resident faced an unexpected situation when she received a city water bill totaling nearly $2,200.

Debbie Quinn, known for maintaining a regular pattern of water consumption, expressed surprise and concern upon receiving the bill, which was significantly higher than her usual charges.

Quinn, who is conservative with her water usage, said that it’s not uncommon for her bills to be relatively low. When the bill arrived with an amount of $2,181.36, she immediately suspected something was wrong.

Quinn reported the issue to the city authorities, seeking clarification and resolution. In response, the city of Georgetown initiated an investigation into the billing anomaly.

The investigation aims to determine whether a mistake occurred in recording or processing the water usage data.

A city official stated that various factors could contribute to an unexpectedly high bill, including potential meter malfunctions, data entry errors, or undetected leaks.

City officials are reviewing Quinn’s account history and comparing it with recent data to identify any discrepancies.

The process involves checking the water meter for accuracy and examining any possible leaks or errors in the billing system.

Quinn, meanwhile, has expressed concern about the financial strain such an unexpected bill could cause and has emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in utility billing practices.
