The Chinese government has expressed concern over the recent arrest of a Chinese national in the Philippines, who is accused of espionage.

In a formal request issued Wednesday, Chinese officials urged the Philippine government to base its actions on verified evidence and avoid assumptions.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry called for the Philippines to refrain from labeling the individual as a “Chinese spy” without solid evidence.

It also emphasized the protection of the rights of its citizens and asked the Philippines to ensure that any detentions or accusations are supported by factual information.

Details about the arrested individual, including their identity and the nature of the alleged espionage activities, have not been made public.

The case has attracted attention from both local and international media, though the Philippine government has not released specific information, citing the ongoing investigation.

The arrest comes amid complex relations between China and the Philippines, which include economic ties and territorial disputes, particularly in the South China Sea.

Both countries are expected to continue diplomatic discussions regarding the incident.

As of now, the Philippine government has not issued an official response to China’s requests.

The situation remains under investigation, and both nations are likely to manage their responses carefully to avoid further diplomatic tensions.
